Mount Holly NC
Just outside of Charlotte North Carolina, the rural real estate in Mount Holly offers residents a strong small-town lifestyle.  Homes in historic Mount Holly NC real estate ripple inland from the banks of the Catawba River.  Both the businesses and neighborhoods of Mount Holly homes welcome newcomers to the old river town.  Many residents of metropolitan Charlotte real estate continue to migrate to the charming smaller community.

With its prominent position near the U.S. National Whitewater Center, Mount Holly NC real estate is actually emerging as the epicenter of the regional river district.  Residents enjoy a greenways trail system along the banks of the Catawba River and its tributaries along with recreation in the rivers and lakes in the region.  Soon pathways will connect Downtown Mount Holly and the Carolina Thread Trail.

The history of Mount Holly relates closely to the river.  It all began in 1754 with a land grant given to James Kuykendall of Holland.  Then referred to as Dutchman's Creek, resident later changed the name to Woodlawn.  In 1875, the flourishing Mount Holly Cotton Mill took root.  Four years later the community voted to incorporate using the well-known brand name of the mill.  That mill is still open today.

The major textile-manufacturing town now operates several mills retrofitted to the needs of today.  One is the new Citizens Center, its Grand Hall a two-story atrium available for functions in the community.  Working with new and existing businesses, the Economic Development Conference and Plan inspire new ways such as this to adapt to our changing world.  The City, local businesses and potential new businesses hash out ways to make it all work.

In fact, the community is all about collaboration and creativity.  The Community Development Foundation is a proactive body established to "advance the health, general welfare and prosperity of the area."  It raises awareness, gathers resources, and creates sustainable programs to enrich the environment and enrich cultural heritage.

Imagine strolling down brick embellished sidewalks of Main Street in revitalized downtown Mount Holly, exploring new businesses or gathering vegetables at Farmer's Market.  It is very possible to catch an exciting event going on.  From Mount Hollydays, with the downtown tree lighting, Victorian carolers, horse-drawn carriage rides, and art gallery, to Springfest celebrating a plethora of diverse cultures, to Autumn on Main features fine art and performers, family fun abounds.  A series of street dances called Alive After 5 offer residents good ole hometown fun.
